Unit Photography/Local 600: Union Work: Shahs of Sunset, MPEG union rally
More than 200 union members of the Motion Picture Editors Guild and their supporters rallied in a park outside the gates of NBCUniversal in October 2014 in solidarity with striking editors on Bravo’s reality series Shahs Of Sunset. Fourteen of the show’s production and postproduction workers were fired after they walked off the job in a strike to obtain a union contract, health benefits and representation by IATSE Editors Guild Local 700. Just under two weeks after the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees slapped Bravo with unfair labor practices charges at the Labor Relations Board, the dispute was settled when the crew voted unanimously to ratify a union agreement and returned to work one month after the strike began.
